Esprit 1999

Here's some of my favorite pictures from the 1999 Esprit Conference. It was the 10th anniversary of the conference, and my second year there. As with last year (1998), I had a great time!! One of these days I'll work on getting permission to post more pictures of some of the wonderful people I met or saw again at Esprit 1999 (and, as w/1998, until then it's mostly of me, sorry... :)

Pictures from Friday...

This first picture is of Elaine Lerner and myself. Elaine is an incredible person; she seems to warp time to do more than humanly possible! She's articulate, funny, inteligent, kind,... Not to mention looking great besides...

The second two pictures are me in my travelling outfit; this is what I wore up to Esprit.



The next set of pictures are, well, me in my dancing outfit (the skirt's different, really :). This apparently bothered some of the local boys (and I mean boys, not men), as one of them spat on me from behind. I think I challenged his sexuality and masculinity... Personally, I think he found me attractive, and didn't know what to do with that feeling [Yes, I am modest too... ;-)]. I wasn't intending to bug him; I didn't talk to him or anything... I simply wanted to dance w/my friends. Why do people have to be so unable to handle their own feelings, or filled with such hate and fear of the unknown? Anyway, I did have fun dancing anyway... when the DJ stopped playing "rap" for the 3 black (African-American) people in the crowd of 100+ other people.

The first picture is of me and my "Little Sister" from Last year, Maria. She looks great, doesn't she? :)

The next two pictures are of me in the Fashion Show. This year's theme was lingerie. Yeesh... it took some guts or insanity or something to get up in front of a hundred people or so in lingerie. I mean, I'd done the fashion show the prior year, too... but lingerie? Eeeek. Anyway, thanks to Harriet Stites for organizing the whole thing; it went off really well. The 4th picture is of me at the formal dinner on Saturday night...
